Hommage : La légende argentine Diego Maradona pleure Stephen Tataw

Le décès de Stephen Tataw n’a pas seulement suscité de l’émoi au niveau national. Tous comme plusieurs personnalités camerounaises du football et de politique, la légende argentine Diego Maradona a rendu hommage à celui qui fut son adversaire lors du match d’ouverture de la Coupe du monde 1990 en Italie.

Le 8 juin 1990 à l’occasion de la première rencontre de la Coupe du monde 1990 en Italie, les Lions indomptables du capitaine d’antan Stephen Tataw affrontaient la grande Argentine de Diego Armando Maradona, championne du monde en titre.

Ce soir-là, le Cameroun avait crée l’exploit en battant l’Argentine 1-0 grâce à une but de François Omam Biyik. Quelque jour après que Stephen Tataw a rendu l’âme, «El Pipe de Oro» a salué sa mémoire.

 «Il y a 30 ans, avec Stephen Tataw, capitaine des Lions Indomptables du Cameroun, lors du Mondial de 1990. Mes respects à ta famille, repose en paix», a écrit Maradona sur son compte Instagram.

En effet, le vieux Lion Indomptable a rendu l’âme vendredi 31 juillet 2020 des suites d’une longue maladie. Une disparition qui ne cesse de faire réagir tous ceux qui ont un jour, été marqué par le géant Bayangui.

«J’avais une relation personnelle avec lui. Je me sens très redevable envers lui.  C’était un capitaine emblématique.  J’ai eu l’occasion de le connaître et de le rencontrer lors de la Coupe du monde 1994 puisque j’étais jeune. Il a beaucoup influencé ma vie», a tweeté un autre ancien capitaine de l’équipe du Cameroun, Rigobert Song.
