La réunion préparatoire des matchs Eswatini-Cameroun et Cameroun-Libye a eu lieu au ministère des Sports et de l’Éducation Physique ce 17 mars 2025, en présence du Pr. Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. Au terme de cette assise, Marc Brys, sélectionneur des Lions Indomptables, dans sa prise de parole insiste sur le fait que son assistant Joachim Mununga doit être sur le banc de touche avec lui. Pour lui, Martin Ntoungou Mpilé et David Pagou sont « moins incompétents ».
« Je suis déjà habitué à Samuel Eto’o. Nous allons travailler ensemble avec la FECAFOOT et le MINSEP pour trouver une solution qui nous permettra d’avoir le plus de chances possible de gagner des matchs. Je ne peux pas travailler avec les gens que je ne connais pas et qui sont moins compétents », a déclaré Marc Brys en parlant des assistants camerounais.
Il a insisté : « J’ai besoin de mon assistant ». Pour le Belge, il est absolument nécessaire que le Congolais Joachim Mununga soit à ses côtés sur le banc pour qu’il fasse bien son travail. « Je travaille avec lui depuis plus de 7 ans. Nous nous connaissons parfaitement et avons une relation plus efficace. J’ai besoin de lui sur le banc. J’ai le droit. Je suis l’entraîneur principal et je décide qui doit être sur le banc, comme dans les autres pays. Mais apparemment, au Cameroun, ce n’est pas comme ça », a-t-il conclu lors de cette réunion à laquelle ont participé toutes les parties impliquées dans l’organisation des matchs à venir.

Besides the likes of Professor Nkou Mvondo, Dr Jean-Crepin Nyamsi, the bloggers Nouhu, Senator Kletus and Co. I get the impression that we need to remodel our mindsets on matters relating to equity, transparency, fairness anf other attributes within the wider context of intellectial honesty.
The inability to see the bigger picture has led to abject narrow-mindedness amongst a substantive proportion of the citizens in the nation-state of Cameroon. Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi and his pseudo-intellectuals in the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education demonstrate lack of awareness and practical knowledge in the conduct of business and their utterances in public.
They have given Marc Brys carte blanche to undermine icones like SEF and RAM. And by default individuals such as Jean-Paul Akono and Martin Ndtounghou who have won major African and World trophies. Name me a major continental trophy that Marc Brys has won in his tenure as a football manager. What’s more, his effective communication skills in both English and French are below par! I know for sure that our briother, Martin Ndtoungou Mpile speaks English and French fluently. The government of the Republic of Cameroon did not pay Rigobert Song a substantial part of his salary as Manager of the Indomitable Lions.
For Professor Mouelle Kombi to say live on CRTV that no indigenous manager of any Cameroon national team has ever won a continental or world competition speaks volumes. Put simply that was a clear case of the lack of emotional intelligence and/or multiple intelligences. No wonder some graduates of the state-owned universities in Cameroon find it difficult to cut the mustard elsewhere in the world.
Do we always have to be superior to be equal to less knowledgeable others? Professor A Afangana and Joseph -Antoine Bell were/are heads and shoulders above their peers. Yet we do not value their know-how and wherewithal. I could go on for ever and ever. We should learn to value ourselves rather than think that the grass is always greener somewhere else. Or that foteigners can ply their trade better than ourselves. Bob Marley once said that we need to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery. It’s a concept to which some of so-called intellectuals find it difficult to come to terms with.
Je suis navré, ce Brys n’a aucun respect pour les camerounais. Il faut qu’il arrête des piques agressives voire offensantes à l’endroit des camerounaise ; que le ministre des sports sache que ce Brys ne le respecte pas ; il l’utilise juste dans son attitude de grand russe, de defi face au talentueux Samuel Eto’o.
Samuel Eto’o n’est pas n’importe qui SVP.
